Machair & Tide was born from a deep love for the Outer Hebrides. Our mission is to transform the tranquil essence of the Isle of Barra into handcrafted natural wax candles that evoke the unique spirit of the Scottish islands, bringing a piece of the wild Atlantic shore into your home.
PROCESS
The Artisanal Touch
We use a meticulously balanced blend of rapeseed and coconut wax, sustainably sourced in Europe from renewable plant-based ingredients. This paraffin-free combination ensures a clean, slow burn, releasing our unique scents with a purity that reflects the windswept Machair and the shifting Hebridean tides. Each candle is hand-poured, where traditional craftsmanship meets our modern commitment to environmental consideration. Each candle is unique, hand-poured in Eoligarry, Isle of Barra, and created in small batches to ensure each are created with care.

Our story is deeply rooted in the rugged beauty of the Isle of Barra. Every candle we pour at Machair & Tide captures the evocative essence of the Scottish Outer Hebrides.
Candle Care & Safety
- Trim the wick to 5mm before every single burn to prevent smoking.
- Allow the wax to melt to the edges of the jar to prevent tunneling.
- Do not burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time.
- Keep the wax pool free of matches and debris.
- Always burn on a level, fire-resistant surface away from drafts.
- Never leave a lit candle unattended or within reach of children or pets.
